INDIANAPOLIS – St. Francis
Hospital & Health Centers and slp3D broadcast a live Webcast
of one of the newest procedures in knee restoration surgery from
5 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, September 19. The archived version of that
webcast is now available.
Jack Farr, MD, an orthopedic surgeon with OrthoIndy, performs a
Carticel implantation that uses a patient's own cartilage cells
in a surgical procedure to restore cartilage damage present in the
knee.
“We welcome the opportunity to discuss with other physicians
the benefits of this exciting new procedure,” said Dr. Farr.
“We also hope that people who have been coping with knee problems
for years will learn about one of the many possible options available
to decrease knee pain and improve function.” Dr. Farr has
performed more than 100 Carticel implants during the treatment of
more than 90 patients in this manner. This experience is the third
largest in Carticel patient management in the U.S. He shares a strong
commitment to cartilage knowledge and is on the board of directors
of the newly formed Cartilage Research Foundation.
